Andrew Ward DL
Trustee
Andrew grew up in County Durham and, after a Degree in Mechanical Engineering at University in Manchester, commissioned as an Army Officer via The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1992. A 21-year career in the Army followed, with operational tours in the Balkans, Northern Ireland, and Iraq, as well as numerous training tours overseas in Africa, Central America, and Europe. He retired in December 2012 as a Lieutenant Colonel in Command of the Infantry Battle School in Brecon.
Since 2013, Andrew has worked in Edinburgh’s financial services industry, initially at First State Investments and, since 2019, Aubrey Capital Management Limited, where he is the Chief Executive Officer.
Andrew volunteers his services with Veterans groups and is the Chair of the Scottish Grants Committee for the Army Benevolent Fund. He is a Trustee of the Durham Light Infantry Museum.
In Andrew’s spare time he is a keen musician, playing guitar and attempting to play piano, and is a passionate supporter of live music, of all genres. He is a former trombonist looking for an excuse to come out of retirement. He loves Alpine skiing and walking and is currently part-way through the renovation of a house.
Andrew was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of East Lothian in 2025.

After a Concert…
…I’d love to say slowly walking back to our New Town flat and reflecting on the music over a quiet dram, but the reality is usually a drive back to the country where we actually live, albeit that does give my wife and I plenty of time to talk about the concert.
Hobbies
Playing guitar in various bands and tinkering with other instruments, renovating my house, alpine skiing, and walking with my dogs on the local beach
