At the Performance
You do not need to bring anything special to our concerts other than your printed ticket(s) or e-ticket(s).
Most of our concerts require no specific dress code. Please wear what you feel comfortable wearing. If a concert should require a specific dress code this will be made clear in the details section of that concert.
The doors usually open 30 minutes before each concert and 10 minutes before a pre-concert event. Any exceptions to this will be noted on the specific page for the concert.
If, for any reason, you arrive late to a performance you may be asked to wait outside until the end of a piece or movement, so that your entrance does not disturb the audience.
No specific musical knowledge is required to enjoy a concert… If you wish to familiarise yourself with the programme before coming to the concert, we recommend checking our website, where you will able to browse or download the free digital programme notes from the details section of each concert. You will also have access to audio excerpts and interviews or video rehearsal excerpts.
There will be some printed programme booklets available on the door before the concert, however, to protect the environment, we encourage using the online version.
Yes, most of our concerts have an interval of 20 minutes. More information is available on the dedicated page of each concert.
That depends on the concert, but most concerts last anywhere from two hours to two hours and fifteen minutes, including the interval. More precise timings can be found on the details page for each concert.
At orchestral music concerts, the audience normally claps only after an entire work has been performed, even if the work consists of multiple movements. The concert programme shows you exactly how many movements a particular piece of music has. Another easy way to know when to clap is to watch the conductor, who will let his arms rest at his sides once the piece is finished.
Many of our visitors wish to enjoy the music to its fullest through concentrated listening in silence. For this reason, we ask that you arrive on time and refrain from making noise which could disturb the performance. Switch your mobile phone to silent, and remember that bright screens can also disturb other listeners’ concentration.
We are very happy for you to take photographs either before or after our concerts, e.g. during the final applause, and we would love for you to share them with us on social media #CapellaEdina.
However, out of respect for the performers, we ask you to refrain from taking any photographs during a concert as this is distracting for the people on stage.
Please note that filming is not allowed.
